FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Vallejo, CA – Solano County Transit (SolTrans) will implement service changes on Sunday, December 6, 2020. These changes are minimal and only affect a few routes. Planning staff is continuing to closely monitor and adapt to changing transit travel patterns and transportation needs as COVID-19 restrictions are eased and the public begins to return to work, school and other destinations. SolTrans is also asking for continued rider and public feedback on transit needs with a Transition Survey that will help staff develop a more tailored restoration plan to go into effect sometime in summer/fall 2021.

In response to public requests for increased bus service from Vallejo to San Francisco, SolTrans will also introduce two pilot roundtrips on the Route 82. The trips will operate on weekdays from the Vallejo Transit Center (VTC), serving El Cerrito del Norte BART and the San Francisco Ferry Terminal on the Embarcadero before returning to Vallejo. There will be one early morning roundtrip that will depart the VTC at 6:15 a.m. and arrive at the Ferry Terminal just after 7 a.m. and an afternoon round trip that will depart VTC at 4:15 p.m. towards San Francisco and leave the San Francisco Ferry Terminal at 5:45 p.m. Staff will decide on permanently adding the pilot Route 82 to the SolanoExpress Lines based on ridership and funding in the Fall of 2021 and change the name to fit in with the already existing color lines Red and Yellow.

The other major change happening is in direct response to the I-80 Six Bridge Project Caltrans project. In early 2021 the Magazine Street Bridge will be closed to traffic, greatly impacting the Route 3. To prepare for construction set to begin Monday, December 7, 2020 the Route 3 Eastbound will detour after Curtola Park and Ride Hub and end at Magazine & Sheridan (StopID 821020); it will then begin the Route 3 Westbound trip from there and will not serve the Beverly Hills area. The Route 8 will detour along Fulton and Magazine to serve most of the stops along the Beverly Hill neighborhood, before continuing onto Glen Cove Parkway. Unfortunately, service to the stop at Magazine & Gary Circle (Stop ID 822085) will be suspended for the duration of the detour.

Other minor timing adjustments were made to other routes, so please check updated timetables at SolTrans.org.

Solano County Transit (SolTrans) has been the public transportation provider for south Solano County since July 2011. SolTrans provides local and SolanoExpress fixed routes, complementary paratransit, and subsidized Lyft programs. The agency is a Joint Powers Authority (JPA) that is governed by a six-member Board of Directors, composed of two representatives from the cities of Benicia and Vallejo, Solano County’s representative on the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC), and a representative from the Solano Transportation Authority.
