Community Based Transportation Plan, Vallejo

The Solano Transportation Authority (STA) undertook a Vallejo Community-Based Transportation Plan (CBTP) and gathered input from residents of Vallejo on transportation gaps and challenges along with suggested solutions. As part of the CBTP effort, $400,000 was set aside to pay for transit-related projects in a participatory budgeting type process. Of that $400,000 SolTrans received $260,000 for bus stop related improvements.

The CBTP process started on July 30, 2019, at the Norman King Vallejo Community Center, this was the public’s opportunity to discuss mobility and transportation struggles and possible solutions. After the kick-off meeting, smaller more intimate meetings took place around the Vallejo community to gather challenges and solution ideas. Ideas, themes, and possible solutions were comprised over the following months and presented to the public at the Northern Vallejo Community Center on October 24th where projects were displayed and the public was asked to vote on each project.

A survey was distributed requesting public feedback on specified mobility and transportation projects and the final projects were released by the STA in early 2020. Projects identified by the public for SolTrans include:

  • Lighting at various high ridership stops- An update on this project coming soon.
  • Seating at Stops- SolTrans has just received simme seats to install at stops identified during the CBTP meetings and outreach. Simme seats are attached to bus stop poles to provide seating where there is limited space.
  • Shelter enhancements and replacement- multiple stops were identified to receive new shelters and benches within Vallejo. Look for the new vibrant color of the shelters and benches.
    • Along with numerous enhancements to bus stops throughout Vallejo, two stops were identified to receive complete makeovers, These two stops will receive upgraded shelters, lighting, and landscape based on community input:
      • Gary Circle & Magazine (stop ID 822085)
      • Alameda & Ohio (stop ID 821009)
  • System-Wide Routes Maps- 30 stops throughout Vallejo will receive large route maps at the shelter to help passengers navigate the route system.

Please fill out the survey below to provide feedback about the stops receiving full makeovers.
