FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Solano County, CA – In April 2022, the Solano Transportation Authority (STA) and Solano County Transit (SolTrans) announced the consolidation of the SolanoExpress Lines to be operated by one agency.  SolTrans will be the single operator of all 4 SolanoExpress Lines, Green, Red, and Yellow, which are already operated by SolTrans. The SolanoExpress Blue Line will join the SolTrans service on Monday, August 8, 2022. The Blue Line is currently being operated by Fairfield and Suisun Transit (FAST).

Due to unforeseen delays in new bus production, SolTrans will temporarily reduce the Blue Line schedule for the first 6 weeks of service (Updated August 30, 2022, SolanoExpress Blue Line will remain as scheduled with the “temporarily reduced schedule” due to staffing shortage). On Monday, September 19, 2022, the Blue Line service will be expanded to mirror its current span of service. Schedules are slightly adjusted to accommodate transfers to BART’s updated September schedule change.

SolTrans’ Executive Director Beth Kranda said, “The Green Line was a great addition to SolTrans service this spring. We are very much looking forward to adding the Blue Line with the same seamless process. This transition is a huge step in the right direction for seamless, integrated, and transparent transit service in Solano County and the Bay Area.”

What does the transition mean for the passengers? SolTrans passengers will have access to real-time bus information and real-time service alerts through the various technologies SolTrans offers; SolTrans.org, Transit App, Moovit App, and 511.org. Passengers will also have access to the Token Transit App for mobile fare purchases. Passengers can continue to use paper and Clipper passes on the Blue Line.

SolTrans, with STA, has already begun outreach to current Blue Line riders at both Fairfield Transportation Center and Walnut Creek BART. Passengers will be able to view the Blue Line Schedule on SolTrans.org in late June.

Solano County Transit (SolTrans) has been the public transportation provider for south Solano County since July 2011. SolTrans provides local and SolanoExpress fixed routes, complementary paratransit, and subsidized Lyft programs. The agency is a Joint Powers Authority (JPA) that is governed by a six-member Board of Directors, composed of two representatives from the cities of Benicia and Vallejo, Solano County’s representative on the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC), and a representative from the Solano Transportation Authority.
