Feedback Request: Going Paperless

Mandi Renshaw

Solano County Transit (SolTrans) is continuing to keep up with technological advances and proposing to move to all digital bus fare payments. SolTrans is proposing to go paperless and eliminate all paper fare passes to improve the rider experience. SolTrans already has several digital fare payment options available like Token Transit, Clipper Card (cash value and passes), and Clipper START. Exact cash and coins will continue to be accepted to purchase one-way fares and day passes on all bus services.

Beginning October 9 through the SolTrans Board Meeting on November 16, 2023, SolTrans staff will receive feedback on the proposed option to eliminate all Single-Ride, Day, and 31-day paper passes effective July 2024.

Feedback can be submitted via the Feedback Form below, SolTrans Customer Service 707-648-4666, or in person at the Vallejo Transit Center Ticket Office.

SolTrans will host an in-person outreach event at the Vallejo Transit Center on Friday, October 13, 2023, from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. to collect rider feedback and educate riders on all the digital fare payment options. Staff will have information about Clipper START, a fare discount for lower-income qualified adults age 19-64. Beginning, on January 1, 2024, Clipper START will offer a 50% discount on all SolTrans single-ride fares.

Can’t make the meeting and want to learn more? Learn about our already accepted digital fare payment options here:

Prefer to pay your bus fare from the palm of your hand?  Download the Token Transit App. Show your activated pass to the driver, board, and GO!

Not sure how Clipper Card works? You can visit this site to learn how the Clipper Card works. Or get more information about Clipper START.

SolTrans is looking into Open Loop Payment readers, which will allow riders to pay with their debit, credit cards, or digital wallets to complete fare payments onboard SolTrans buses. Riders will no longer have to pay in cash or download any app in advance. More to come…
