Welcome Back, Solano Community College

Mandi Renshaw

The first day of school is almost here! There is no right way to prepare for the return to in-person learning, especially after a year of online learning. It hasn’t been the smoothest ride, and we get that. To take some of the weight off your shoulders this year, using your Solano Community College (SCC) Student ID, you can ride for free on all SolTrans and FAST Local and SolanoExpress routes all day, every day. Simply show the operator your ID card and find a seat. New to SCC? You can get a student ID either online or at the Admissions and Records Office in the 400 building. There your picture will be taken and your ID card issued on the spot. While at the window, you can get a listing of all the benefits that you will receive when you use your student ID card, including riding free with us.

If you have not registered for classes or are interested in other courses, there’s still time to sign up. You can find classes using Classfinder. Make sure to doublecheck the class details as some classes are offered in-person or online. You can also check your required textbooks and materials for the courses you’re enrolled in at the Solano Community College Bookstore. Simply enter the department, course, and section for each of your classes to see materials your Professor is requiring.

Did you know? Keeping your school materials organized is an important study tip for college students!

WHICH SOLANO COMMUNITY COLLEGE CAMPUS ARE YOU GOING TO?

SolTrans can help get you to all three of the SCC campuses using the routes below. If you can’t or don’t want to memorize all of this, just download the Transit app or Moovit on your smartphone to plan your trip from there. Both apps also have real-time bus information available so you can plan your stop arrival to the minute.

Our SolTrans’ SolanoExpress buses offer free WiFi onboard for your convenience. You can listen to a podcast, work on homework or catch up on social media posts on your commute to school. If the nerves of the new school year are still on your mind, Verywell Mind has created a list of meditation podcasts to help ease your stress this school year. Relax and enjoy the ride.

Remember, you’re not alone this school year. Don’t be afraid to ask around for help. And lastly, for a safe ride, don’t forget to mask up (masks are still required on all public transportation) and keep hand sanitizing wipes in your bag. Have a great school year!
