Nothing compares to the magic of theater. The lights, costumes, set designs, music and actors never fail to come together and create an unforgettable show. Theatrical performances provide a perfect opportunity to meet up with friends and family, and escape into an evening of entertaining drama. If you are looking to immerse yourself in the performing arts, look no further because we have some amazing options for you:

  • Orpheum Theatre in San Francisco: I’m sure by now you’ve heard about Hamilton. Everyone that has seen it can’t stop talking about this extraordinary show. Unfortunately tickets are notoriously hard to come by and very expensive. In fact, the best seats sold for $475 to $849 when the show first debuted. However, these prices have recently dropped and now start at just $95! By no means is this inexpensive, but one way you could save money on gas and parking is to take public transportation to the event. You can take the Red Line to the El Cerrito BART station and transfer to any of the multiple BART lines that will drop you off within walking distance of the theater.
  • Empress Theater in Vallejo: Not interested in seeing Hamilton? If so, “Wednesday Night Live in the Lounge” will be an event hosted in Empress Theatre on Wednesday, July 31st from 7:30pm to 10:00pm. The Jazz Funk band BaDD SeLF will be performing in Vallejo for one day only and general admission tickets are just $10! The theater is within walking distance of Vallejo Transit Center, which is accessible via any of the local routes. Don’t miss out on a night of fun!
  • Bay Area Stage Theater in Vallejo: If you are looking to get on the stage yourself, Bay Area Stage Theater is hosting auditions on July 30th and August 1st for their next production, “The Haunting of Hill House”. The auditions are from 7:00pm to 9:00pm and callbacks will be on August 3rd. To travel to the theater for auditions or to watch future productions, you can take Route 1, Route 6 or Route 7A.

Did you know? Alexander Hamilton was mostly a self taught lawyer. He studied law and was able to pass a legal examination within 6 months — talk about dedication!
