Meet the Team: Pat Carr

SolTrans Bids Farewell to Pat Carr, a True Trailblazer

After eight years with SolTrans, Pat Carr, General Services Manager, is stepping into an exciting new role—retirement! In her time with SolTrans Pat has been instrumental in shaping the agency, overseeing critical facilities and projects that have left a lasting impact on SolTrans and the community it serves. Now, as she bids farewell to her career, we reflect on the incredible journey that brought her to this moment.

SolTrans, Pat Carr, General Services Manager

Born in Munich, Germany, while her father was stationed there with the US Air Force, Pat’s life has been anything but ordinary. She grew up in Germany, France, New Jersey, and eventually settled in California in the mid-1960s, where she attended Vacaville High School before heading to Solano Community College. It was during her college years that she took an unexpected detour, learning about the California Highway Patrol’s initiative to allow women into its ranks. Pat made history by becoming one of the first female CHP officers, serving in East LA in the mid-70s.

Her adventurous spirit continued when her husband accepted a job in Iran, and they lived there until the 1979 revolution. After a brief stint in London, Pat returned to the U.S. and embraced motherhood before joining American Airlines, where she spent nearly 23 years and then took a job with an Aviation Services contractor commuting to SFO from Vallejo for 8 years before looking for something closer to home. Pat's career took her across the country and into new heights of leadership.

In 1997, Pat settled in Vallejo, still commuting to jobs as far away as St. Louis and LAX. Eventually, she sought something closer to home—something where she could directly impact her local community. That’s when she found SolTrans, and the rest, as they say, is history.

During her tenure, Pat improved bus stops for the comfort of both riders and drivers and spearheaded her proudest achievement—the electrification of the SolTrans bus yard. This monumental project will pave the way for a fleet of all-electric buses, drastically cutting emissions and creating cleaner air for Solano County. Though Pat officially retires at the end of September, she’ll continue consulting on the electrification project until its completion in 2025.

As she embarks on this new chapter, Pat and her husband are excited to explore new adventures abroad. With destinations like Puerto Rico, Southern Spain, and Morocco on her travel list, her passion for discovery remains as strong as ever.

If you see Pat around SolTrans, don’t miss the chance to wish her well and perhaps ask to hear about her latest travels. She’s off to a well-deserved adventure, and we can’t wait to see what she conquers next!
