Children

Children age 5 and under ride free, maximum of two per fare-paying passenger. Additional children pay youth fare.

Youth

Effective Monday, April 1, 2024 Youth ages 6-18 will ride all Local Routes and SolanoExpress Lines FREE. This is a pilot program that will run from April 2024 through June 2025. In the Spring of 2025, staff will return to the SolTrans Board with directions on whether to fully adopt the Youth Free Fare or not. The pilot’s goals are to promote access to public transit to a new generation, increase attendance at the local school districts, and grow ridership. 

Solano Community College Students

Solano Community College students ride free with their valid student ID. The FREE ride is valid on all SolTrans, FAST local, and SolanoExpress routes.

Reduced Fare Eligibility
Senior 65+ / Disabled / Medicare Recipients

To qualify you must present one of the following:

  • Photo ID with birthdate indicating 65+
  • Valid Medicare Card with photo ID
  • Regional Transit Connection (RTC)   Discount Card
  • DMV Disabled License Plate Registration
  • DMV Disabled Parking Placard printout

Senior 80+

Seniors 80+ ride FREE on SolTrans and FAST local routes and SolanoExpress lines. To qualify, present a photo ID with birth year indicating 80+ to the operator.

SolTrans Fare Terms and Conditions

General Terms & Conditions

All SolTrans paper passes expire and are not refundable or exchangeable. Passes worn or damaged to the point they are not readable by the farebox may not be accepted. Please do not laminate or punch holes in passes as this will invalidate the pass.

Service Areas

Local Passes: Valid for travel within Vallejo and Benicia on SolTrans Local fixed routes* and local trips on SolanoExpress fixed routes. Extra surcharge for SolanoExpress travel outside Vallejo and Benicia.

Within Solano County Passes: Valid for travel within and between Solano County cities (Vallejo, Benicia, Fairfield, Vacaville, Dixon, and Davis) on SolanoExpress Lines.  Extra surcharge for SolanoExpress travels outside of Solano County.

Outside Solano County Passes: Valid for travel both outside and within Solano County on SolanoExpress fixed routes and SolTrans Local fixed routes. Extra surcharge on SolanoExpress Route 82 to the San Francisco Ferry terminal.

Fare Categories

1. Adult:  Ages 19-64
2. Youth:  Ages 6-18
3. Reduced:  Ages 65 and over, disabled or Medicare recipient. A driver may request to see proof of eligibility:

– Photo ID with birthdate indicating 65+
– Medicare card with photo ID
– Regional Transit Connection (RTC) Discount Card
– DMV Disabled License Plate registration paperwork
– DMV Disabled Parking placard paperwork

Pass Types

31-Day Passes Valid for unlimited travel on fixed routes for 31 days from the first day of use.  Available to Adult and Reduced Fare Categories for all Service Areas.  Youth Fare Category is only available for the Local Service Area.

Day Passes: Valid for unlimited travel on fixed routes all day on the first day used. May be purchased onboard the bus with the exact fare. Available to all Fare Categories for all Service Areas.

Local 10-Ride Pass: Valid for 10 one-way rides (single boarding) on SolTrans fixed routes. Available to all Fare Categories for SolTrans Local Service Area only.

Paratransit 10-Ride Pass: Valid for 10 one-way rides (single boarding) on SolTrans’ ADA Paratransit demand response† service only within SolTrans’ local service area. ADA Paratransit Certification is required to ride. A driver may request to see a valid ADA Paratransit ID card.

* Fixed route – Services provided on a repetitive, fixed schedule basis along a specific route with vehicles stopping to pick up and deliver passengers to specific locations; each fixed route trip serves the same origins and destinations.

† Demand response – A transit mode operating in response to calls from passengers to the transit operator, who then dispatches a vehicle to pick up the passengers and transport them to their destinations. The vehicle may be dispatched to pick up several passengers at different pick-up points before taking them to their respective destinations and may be interrupted on route to these destinations to pick up other passengers.
