SolTrans Seeks the Help of a Talented Artist

Get ready for a vibrant transformation! SolTrans is once again set to turn one of its buses from the ordinary into the extraordinary with the creative touch of a local artist. Back in 2017, SolTrans unveiled a stunning all-electric bus wrapped in the captivating artwork of Miro Salazar. Now, seven years later, the current wrap has spanned its useful life. As a result, SolTrans is on the hunt for fresh art to spotlight the community and their commitment to a zero-emission fleet.

The call for artists has gone out to the greater Bay Area, and talented artists have submitted their qualifications. The selection committee is now in the process of reviewing these initial submissions.

In early August, those chosen artists that have advanced to the next round will present their preliminary designs. By the end of the month, the committee will make their final decision, selecting the artist who will bring this exciting project to life. The completed artwork is expected by late September, with production and installation on the bus set for November.

The SolTrans team is buzzing with excitement about the new soon to be mobile canvas that will travel throughout the communities of Benicia and Vallejo. Stay tuned for sneak peeks of the preliminary designs and for the grand unveiling of the final artwork!
