Proposed SolTrans-Operated, Regional Paratransit Discontinuation: Request for Public Comment

SolTrans is requesting the public’s feedback on the proposal for the discontinuation of SolTrans-operated, regional paratransit service that provides connections to other regional, ADA paratansit operators. The proposal calls for the regional paratransit service to be administered by the Solano Mobility, except for direct connection transfers between SolTrans and Napa VINEGo, which will continue to be operated by SolTrans. Trips to Fairfield will be transitioned to Solano Mobility programs, while trips to Concord and Pinole will be discontinued. The proposed discontinuation will go into effect Fall 2019 pending SolTrans Board approval.

There is no legal requirement for SolTrans to provide service outside its service area (Benicia and Vallejo), however given the rising cost to operate the regional paratransit service, the service is no longer sustainable. Staff is planning to transition the regional paratransit service to Solano Mobility in Fall 2019, pending board approval by both agencies. Nevertheless, we welcome the public’s feedback.
