FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Vallejo, CA— Solano County Transit (SolTrans) will implement its first increase in service, since the transit agency’s COVID-19 service reduction and travel limitations that started in March 2020. On Sunday, July 5, 2020 SolTrans will increase service hours on both SolTrans SolanoExpress Lines and Local Routes. Capacity restrictions will continue to be enforced on all buses, therefore as part of the July 5 service changes SolTrans will begin adding in when possible, sweeper bus service to pick up riders left behind due to the seating restrictions.

“Our objective with this service change is to meet our rider’s needs, with earlier morning and later evening service. We aren’t where we were pre-COIVD-19, just yet.” Said Beth Kranda, SolTrans’ Executive Director. “We had to get creative in creating viable service with new riding policies and budgetary restraints and this is a great step forward.”

New schedules and a detailed summary of changes can be found at https://bit.ly/3hRzWEA.

Fare collection resumed on all service earlier in June, SolTrans is strongly recommending using cash free fare options like Clipper and the Token Transit App. To help transition riders to cash free fare all local passes on the Token Transit App will be 50% off through the month of August.

Face coverings also became required in June for the safety of operators and riders. SolTrans continues to ask riders to follow social distancing guidelines and remain 6’ apart when waiting for and on the bus.

SolTrans along with most other Bay Area transit agencies experienced substantial budgetary cuts due to COVID-19, staff will continue to monitor travel patterns and needs of riders and as funding opportunities arise find ways to increase service. Rider feedback is encouraged for future service adjustments, please fill out the “Leave a Comment Form” and select the “Route Planning” topic.

Finally, in observance of the Independence Day holiday SolTrans will operate limited weekend service on Friday, July 3, 2020 and no buses will operate on Saturday, July 4, 2020, please plan accordingly.

Solano County Transit (SolTrans) has been the public transportation provider for south Solano County since July 2011. SolTrans provides local and SolanoExpress fixed routes, complementary paratransit, and subsidized Lyft programs. The agency is a Joint Powers Authority (JPA) that is governed by a six-member Board of Directors, composed of two representatives from the cities of Benicia and Vallejo, Solano County’s representative on the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC), and a representative from the Solano Transportation Authority.
