As the novelty of the new year wears off, new year’s resolutions begin to fall by the wayside. One promise that never goes out of style is to take better care of yourself. Self-care received a lot of buzz last year because, as it turns out, nourishing your body and soul produces a balanced life. With public transit, the road to self-care is possible. So, whether your goal is to get outside and get moving, find mental stimulation, or join a recreational class, SolTrans can help you reach it.

If you’re interested in joining recreational classes in Benicia, Yellow Line connects you to the Parks and Rec activities. The Yellow Line also takes you to the Benicia State Recreation Area where you can spend hours leisurely strolling through the outdoors.

The Greater Vallejo Recreation District (GVRD) offers a variety of classes for people of all ages. Whether you’re interested in martial arts, musical instruments, general fitness, or group sports, there’s a class for you. The Route 3 drops you off right in front of the Norman C. King Community Center where many GVRD recreation classes are held.

The Route 3 also drops you off a short distance away from several parks for those of you with fitness goals. Lake Dalwigk Park is minutes away from the Sonoma & McLane bus stop; Beverly Hills Park and the Vallejo Regional Education Center are a brief walk away from the Fulton & Magazine bus stop.

Likewise, the 7B drops you off at Springstowne Library, where you can check out self-help books to get started on any goal or personal improvement projects. For those interested in getting laps in at the pool, the 7B also takes you to the John F. Cunningham Aquatic Center.

Whatever you decide to do just remember that self-care isn’t just a buzzword with hype around it. Self-care is required to maintain a harmonious life.
