Next Stop is a series that focuses on activities, eateries and shopping locations near SolTrans bus stops throughout Solano County and will have semi-weekly installments throughout the summer. In case you missed it, here’s the previous ‘Next Stop’ article featuring Redwood and Sonoma.

At our last stop, we went to Redwood and Sonoma. To venture out further, let’s take the Red Line and make our way from Vallejo to Suisun where the entertainment and food options are plentiful. Suisun Waterfront has a weekly treat for you with Waterfront Music Series and Sunday Jazz. Nothing accompanies music better than food, and there are plenty of places to check out like La Cabaña, Cast Iron Grill, Bab’s Delta Diner, and Main Street Bar and Grill.

Suisun Waterfront

The Suisun Waterfront District was established in 1848. They currently host the Waterfront Music Series and the Summer Jazz Concert Series which will be until the end of August. The Waterfront Music Series happens every Friday from 6 PM to 9 PM while the Summer Jazz Concert Series is every Sunday on the shores of the Suisun Marina from 3 PM to 5 PM. Enjoy this free event and experience all different kinds of music every week from country, old school, classic hits, and today’s hits. Food trucks and retail vendors will be available during the performances, but coupons will be handed out to use after the show at one of the participating downtown restaurants for a 15% off deal!

Fun Fact: One of the first greatest jazz composers was named Jelly Roll Morton. He published “Jelly Roll Blues” in 1915 and he later became known as one of the first “philosophers of jazz”.

La Cabaña

This homestyle Mexican restaurant is open all week and even has happy hour from 2 PM to 6 PM on weekdays. Their menu is filled with classics: burritos, enchiladas, tamales, tostadas, tortas, and more. They even offer vegetarian friendly options available for a delicious, yet healthy meal; they have something for everyone!

Cast Iron Grill

Known for their atmosphere, Cast Iron Grill is the perfect hangout spot. They serve brunch, lunch, and dinner and their menu changes to highlight ingredients that are in season. They’ve got a beautiful dining room, a very spacious patio, and a busy bar. Even though they’re known for their steaks, seafood, and pastas, don’t forget about dessert because there’s a killer creme brulee and a variety of delicious cakes.

Bab’s Delta Diner

This Suisun classic is open Monday through Saturday from 6 AM to 2 PM and 6 AM to 1:30 PM on Sundays. Since the diner is located right by the water, most customers like to sit out on the patio during their meal to see boats pass by. The breakfast and brunch hotspot has all the American favorites: omelettes, biscuits and gravy, corn beef hash, pancakes, eggs, bacon, potatoes, and more. Vegan options are also available!

Main Street Bar and Grill

With a chef that has been in the restaurant business for almost 30 years, Main Street Bar and Grill is Chef Soo Song’s 7th restaurant and has been open since 2007. Their lunch hours are from 11 AM to 2 PM Tuesday through Friday. Their dinner hours are from 5 PM to 9 PM Tuesday through Saturday. They serve a variety of pastas, burgers, and sandwiches. In addition, they have some unique protein options on the menu like venison, lamb chops, and more.

Did you know? Chef Soo Song has cooked for the creator/filmmaker of Star Wars, George Lucas, and actor Sean Penn. His dishes are worth trying for sure!
