Next Stop: Dining at Redwood & Sonoma

Next Stop is a series that focuses on activities, eateries and shopping locations near SolTrans bus stops throughout Solano County and will have semi-weekly installments throughout the summer. In case you missed it, here’s the previous ‘Next Stop’ article featuring Sunvalley Mall.

Looking for a quick bite in West Vallejo? Then check out these restaurants near the Redwood St & Sonoma Blvd stop that is served by Route 7A, Route 7B, Route 1 and Route 2. This time we will be stopping at five different restaurants and get a taste of what they have to offer. If you have a more restrictive diet, don’t worry all of these restaurants offer vegetarian options and we’ll note the ones that also have vegan options. Vallejo natives probably already know about some of these locations but if you’re from out of town, definitely check them out.

Big Italian Pizzeria & Ristorante

Big Italian Pizzeria is open Monday through Saturday and serves pizza whole or by the slice, calzones, stromboli and pasta. It has a 4 star rating on Yelp and 4.4 stars on Google. Don’t underestimate their individual pizza slices, they definitely earn the restaurant’s namesake.

Maya Thai House

Maya Thai House is open all week but briefly closes between 4 and 5 PM and serves meat, seafood and vegetable curries, pan fried noodles, duck entrees and more. It has a 4.5 star rating on Yelp and 4.6 stars on Google. This restaurant also has several vegan options.

Midori Japanese Cuisine

Midori Japanese Cuisine is open Monday to Saturday and serves meat or vegetables rice plates, meat or seafood teriyaki plates and sushi rolls. They also have a wide variety of smoothies. It has 4 Stars on Yelp and 4.6 Stars on Google.

Starbread Bakery

Starbread Bakery is open all week and is most known for their delicious señorita bread, but they also serve breakfast and meat entrees. It has a 4.5 star rating on Yelp and 4.7 stars on Google.

Tacos Jalisco

Tacos Jalisco is open all week and serves tacos, burritos and Mexican plates. Items on their vegetarian menu can be made vegan by choosing pinto or black beans and no cheese or sour cream. It has 4 stars on Yelp and 4.4 stars on Google.

Fun Fact: Redwood St is named after the California Redwood tree and the word “Sonoma” is a Native American word for “Valley of the moon”.
