Healthy Transit: Social Distancing

Mandi Renshaw

As a reminder SolTrans is committed to the following policies and practices to build our passengers trust, we continue our journey discussing the precautions we’ve taken to ensure our passengers and operators are safe while boarding, on the bus, and exiting. Health officials recommend maintaining a safe distance from others to slow the spread of COVID-19. Passengers should maintain distance while waiting for, boarding and riding the buses, except when with people from your own household. We encourage passengers to do the following in order to maintain safe social distancing:

  • While waiting for the bus-
SolTrans has installed markings on the ground at the transit centers to signal where passengers can wait at an appropriate physical distance from one another. Passengers are encouraged to maintain social distancing at least 6′ apart while waiting at individual bus stops.

  • While boarding the bus-
On local routes passengers are asked to board the bus at the front doors and exit at the rear doors to allow for safe distance from boarding passengers. Front door boarding and departing is available for those that need ramp assistance.
Front entry and exit is available on all paratransit and SolanoExpress buses, please allow passengers to exit before boarding to allow for social distancing.

  • While on the bus-
Reduced capacity is enforced on all local, SolanoExpress, and paratransit vehicles to ensure everyone can safely social distance while on the bus. Passengers are encouraged to sit at least 6′ apart from other passengers. Due to passengers reductions, SolTrans deploys “sweeper” buses during peak travel times. Sweeper buses are back-up the normally scheduled bus and pick up additional passengers when scheduled buses have reached capacity.
Capacity reduction on the bus mean a less crowded commute.

We appreciate those who have continued to ride with us and are ready to welcome back passengers to transit! We’re doing all we can to make it easy to safely social distance while on and off the bus. Our buses have continued to operate safely over the past year, and we look forward to seeing you back on board.
