Big Bites in the Hometown is a series highlighting what Vallejo and Benicia are serving up.

The weather outside is cold and wet but that doesn’t mean you have to be stuck inside. With SolTrans’ extended December service hours on local routes, you can spend more time at your favorite restaurants or enjoying a little retail therapy.

Where better to kick off this series than Gateway Plaza? Gateway Plaza is accessible by our Route 7A and Route 7B. Previously highlighted in our Next Stop series, Vallejo’s premier shopping center has more to offer than just your standard chain restaurants.

One of my favorite restaurants is Pho Vallejo and if there were ever a time for a hot bowl of Vietnamese soup, that time would be now.

If a sit-down meal isn’t your thing, mosey on down to Ike’s Sandwiches. Ike’s offers a variety of delicious sandwiches that you can customize to your liking. If you’re vegetarian, they’ve got options. Not into eating animal products? Say no more. They can even make some sandwiches vegan. For students, they have a daily special that’ll save you a few bucks with a flash of your student ID.

For you boba aficionados, Sharetea is now open and serving up hot and cold Taiwanese teas and beverages. At Sharetea, drinks are customizable by the level of sweetness, ice, and toppings. Plus, their inviting space bids you stay and catch up with friends or take advantage of their free WiFi.
